On the 24th of April , we left Portumna at 1 o clock in the morning to set off for our TY trip to Barcelona.
We arrived in Dublin airport at 3 o clock. With 46 students and 4 teachers the airport wasnt easy to tackle, between trying to not loose our boarding passes or passports to trying to get through security. With a few people getting stopped and bags getting swabbed we finally made it to the plane. Our flight was at 6 with the majority of everyone passed out on the plane i was one of the unlucky ones who couldn't seem to get some sleep. We eventually arrived in Barcelona airport at 10am. The sun was shining and we were hit with the warm heat as soon as we got off the plane.
We were then greeted by our tour guide and coach and we headed straight to the science museum of Barcelona , When we got in we looked around for a bit but as a few of us got a glimpse of the sun we heading straight out into the gardens where there was places to sit and relax. We then got back onto our bus and continued with our tour around Barcelona. We were brought on a walking tour around the city of Barcelona with our tour guide. We seen and passed historic monuments such as the Gaudi church, which has been under construction since 1882 and is nowhere near finished yet. Barcelona is a very busy city but is quite beautiful all the same. We got back onto our coach and arrived at the cable carts which took us up to see Montjuic’. I really enjoyed the cable carts because it gave us a beautiful view of Barcelona. After that it was time to go to Salou and check into our hotel. The bus journey was over 2 hours long , once again nearly everyone was fast asleep instantly which i had hoped to be asleep , but unfortunately i couldn't find the will to do so and at this stage i was nearly 30 hours with no sleep so i wasnt in the best of form to say the least. We arrived at the 'Salou Park hotel' where we were staying so we checked in got our guys and headed to our room. We unpacked and settled in and were called for dinner at 7. We were all very hungry at this stage and couldn't wait to get some food. We finished at 8 and we had a half an hour to relax before we headed for bowling. I jumped to this opportunity and tried to get some sleep not having slept for over 30 hours i really did enjoy my 20 minute nap. We left the hotel and headed straight for some bowling. We all got our bowling shoes and started, I got slightly distracted by the arcade games but we still have fun but we were all very tired. We went back to the hotel and went straight to bed.
We got up the next morning early to have breakfast then we set off for Reus where we visited the Gaudi museum. We watched a short film about his life then we were given mobile phones that talked about Gaudi's work. There was 3 floors and the phone had 3 parts with little voice memos on each one. We were then given free time in Reus where we went shopping and had ice cream. We then went to Portaventura Theme Park, I was really nervous about it because i am not too good with heights but i didnt want to be the boring one so went on everything that we had time for ' and im so glad i did. The roller coasters gave me such a thrill it was scary but enjoyable at the same times. With the lines being so long we only got on about 6 or 7 rides but i still had suchna good time. When we got back to the hotel some went to the beach and some of us stayed at the hotel. I personally don't like the beach so i stayed at the hotel and swam in the pool and it was quite warm to my surprise. We then were allowed have free time in Salou along the strip. We went for food and looked around the stalls.
On the last day we checked out of the hotel and got onto the bus and headed for Tarragona. We went to see the amphitheater and walked around for a bit. We were then giving free time. There wasnt many places to shop as it was an old town but we searched for along time to find somewhere to have breakfast because we didnt get up in time and we finally found somewhere. We then got back onto the bus and went to Camp Nou, Barcelonas Soccer field. I wasnt too intrigued by it because i dont like soccer but it was still cool to see and to think about all the money that is being pumped into the stadium. We were there for a while but i was more excited to go shopping in Maregagnum. We spent an hour and a half there trying to get as much shopping as i could. We then headed for the airport and flew home to Dublin the cold and the rain awaited us and we drove back to Portumna and that was that.
