On the 6th and 7th of September, 2017, Jeffrey Allen and Agata Hidalgo came to our school to showcase and tell us about their Healthy Lifestyle Program that they have created. Jeffrey Allen is a lifestyle coach, fitness instructor and ex special forces. He was in the army for 21 years and was also part of the Army Ranger Wing. Agatha Hidalgo is a nutritional therapist.
Jeffrey talked to us about his life and how as a child he was very shy with quiet a bad stammer and no self confidence,Jeff also dopped out of school at the age of 15 because he found school very difficult not knowing he was dyslexic only finding out a number of years later. Jeffrey talked about his love for animals and the outdoors so he became a farmers apprentice , Jeffrey put in alot of blood sweat and tears in his work but he wasnt getting paid enough so he decided to join the army. Whilst in the army Jeff decided to join the special forces. In order to join the special forces there is a months selection course you most complete but can drop out at anytime if finding it too difficult. Jeff said how he was very commited and was determined the finish the course. 98 men applied including Jeff and at the end of the months selection course only 8 men completed it and Jeff being one of them.
Agatha Hidalgo talked to us about nutrition and how important it is. Agatha had videos and slideshows explaining the effect sugar has on our body and how bad it is for us. She also explained how in all these sugary and fast foods we eat there is a substance called MSG in them which causes us to be so addicted to these foods.
During the 2 days that Jeffrey and Agatha were with us our year competed in the 'HUNTER GAMES' this included 6 mini activities between tug of war to relay races. Our year was split up into teams to complete these tasks. Team work was required for each mini game to show us the importance of working together and encouraging each other to keep moving forward.
At the end of the 2 days there was medals giving to the 3 top performers and a trophy for the best team , My team not being the winner but we still enjoyed it at the end of the day win or loose.
Overall i really did enjoy The Healthy Lifestyle Program , Jeffrey and Agatha thought me to never give up and push myself over the limits and also how important it is to look after my body right. I was very inspired after the 2 days and am now more aware of the effects that bad foods can have on you and will now continue to try and be healthier and to not give up as easy anymore.
