Condemned to remember
What Struck you about the event?
I was very fascinated listening and watching Tommi’s story. What struck me overall was what happened to tommi and how he was willing to open up and share his story with everyone. I was un aware that there was still holocaust survivors around today and I didn’t realise that there was survivors living in ireland today too. I was very disgusted of how the jews were treat and the other religions for that matter. Its quiet impressive of tommi to travel too these different countries to raise awareness, talk to holocaust survivors and find justice for anyone involved in the tragic events
What did I think of the questions and answers?
After the film was over there was a serious of questions that the audience asked and Tommi and the director was more than happy to answer. Being honest I did find the q&a quite boring as the answers they gave drifted off the questions and dragged out too much. But there was another German man along with Tommi and the director and at the end of the film he talked about how his grandfather was a Nazi and he went on to tell us that the last conversation he ever had with his grandfather was when they were talking about the holocaust and his grandfather said ‘the only thing Hitler can be shamed for is not killing off all the Jews’ that statement was very jaw dropping and gave us an insight to how the Nazis thought and what they were really like.
What was surprising?
What surprised me the most was when tommi when to a local radio station in Dublin to talk to them about the refugee crisis, the radio station decided to make a survey to see who thinks we should let refugees into the country. The result of the survey was 72% of people voting no and the little 28% voting yes. It was shocking to see how Ireland want willing to help people without a place to live just because they were stero typing them.
What actions does this aspire?
I highly recommend that anyone who hasn’t watched the documentry should. It gives you a whole different insight to what happened during the holocaust and gives you a whole different perspective on it. The actions it aspires you to do is spread and fight against racism, stating that racism isn’t just with skin colour, its discrimination weather its your beliefs, religion etc. People need to be made aware of whats going on in todays world and as tommi said he is trying to stop history repeating itself.
