On the 14th of December , Our ty year performed our unique show 'Gaa with a twist'
In TY every year they usually put on a musical but that wasn't the case for us. Mr Coughlan and Mrs Coyle decided to do something different this year and decided to put on a variety show. The main theme of the show was Gaa. We had the genesis of the Gaa , to emigration and bits of musicals like 'All shook up' and 'Grease'.
When the idea of the theme of Gaa and not having a musical didn't settle very well for a while, so the show wasn't looking to be too great with not many people every interested in it. We rehearsed for weeks but there was still a lot of doubt within the production.
Every Tuesday we had dancing lessons with Angela. She choreographed our dances for grease and they were really good and I really enjoyed it.The main characters in the show rehearsed a lot whilst I was not one of them , I was busy painting and designing the set with a number of other art students. I really enjoyed deigning the set with my friends and when it was finished it did look great.
The day of the show finally came and we were rehearsing all day in school before the big night, The nerves were really coming through in the rehearsals with people forgetting lines even me with my small part as a brush dancer and I was still managing to drop the brush out of my hand. We all went home and got ready for the show. We went back into school at 7 with the show starting at 8.
As the show started everything went better than what everyone expected, All the rehearsing payed off and everyone enjoyed. The crowd seemed to love it too and it was a very good experience
My Reflection
Overall I really enjoyed being a part of the production. I had never been up on a stage in front of so many people before and it was a great experience to have. My favourite part of the show would be the dancing , I really enjoyed it and looked forward to every Tuesday evening. I also had a lot of fun and it was better to do it with my friends.
